Jimmy Chen is a painter and writer. Born in Toronto, Canada, he moved to California Bay Area in 1987. He received a bachelor's degree in Painting from University of California Santa Cruz in 1998, and since then has been living in San Francisco, California. His work is held in private collections internationally.
STATEMENT
To romanticize the prosaic aspects of modern life is to impose a sensibility which elevates it, however subjectively, and makes it bearable. These bureaucratic conditions, in the context of still life painting, become marked by their absurdity and uncanny grace.
